Do you remember your dreams (and aspirations)?

Hey Insiders! Welcome to the Well!

Lately I’ve been asking people what their dream job is, because I’ve noticed that I’m living in a world with lots of getting by and not enough thriving. I don’t have a clear answer as to whether this is due to economic challenges, lack of resources, or an inspiration deficit (or any number of reasons, there are plenty). We can lose track of our personal vision of fulfillment in a culture saturated with expectations and standards that are based on stereotypes and motivated by marketing. There’s even a possibility that you’re not sure what thriving looks like for you, or that it looks different depending on the day.

I just watched a video from 2012 with Marie Forleo and Danielle LaPorte, which reminded me that watching women who are in their power and getting what they desire in life is empowering. And motivating. And exciting. Even if they are doing something that looks completely different from what your dreams hold, the energy exuded from someone who’s really going for it is contagious.

This is the video I watched where Marie and Danielle talk about how to use visualization as a tool:

When recalling hearing a speaker tell the audience that their dreams were possible, Danielle said, “I turned to my girlfriend and I said, “Possible?! My dream is a done fucking deal!” This is maybe my favorite line from this video. Danielle talks about how the state of “done deal” removes anxiety and changes your body.

If you haven’t heard of Danielle LaPorte, she created The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals With Soul and the author of The Fire Starter Sessions. I mentioned Marie Forleo in an earlier post, which you can see here.

Do you feel connected to your vision/dreams? What’s holding you back? What’s helping you reach them? I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Thanks for stopping by the well!
