Hey Insiders! Thanks for stopping by the Well. Tonight I am reposting a piece I wrote for Seashore Gardens’ blog. It provides a glimpse into the life of Florence Novek, an inspiring resident who was kind enough to talk to me for a while. Enjoy!

Enriching Elder Lives

            Florence Novek is a resident in the assisted living facility at Seashore Gardens Living Center. She’s been here about fifteen months, and makes it a point to walk every day. She even went out as the snow was beginning to fall earlier this week, she tells me. Before Florence came to Seashore Gardens, she lived in Margate, and before that, Atlantic City.

            Martin Novek of the Boardwalk is the name of the store she and her husband owned. Florence met her husband at a social gathering, and mentions that he was very good looking. I ask Florence if her husband owned the store before they met, and she tells me he didn’t. An opportunity arose for him to open the store, and both of them thought it was a great idea.

            The first few days they were open happened to be the weekend…
